Biography: |
Serra Keto is a kind, adventurous soul who is willing to help those in need in any way she can. She is often brave and speaks her mind, but is also polite and caring. She is a cautious woman who usually prefers to think things rather than delve headfirst into something. Serra is sometimes seen as serious, but she does have a more playful side that comes out on occasion. She is patient and merciful, but has little tolerance for ne’er-do-wells and because of her boldness, may even taunt her opponents in an attempt to distract them. She also respects her role as a woman, but dislikes being addressed by only her gender (girl, woman, wench, female, etc); she views such as degrading and a bit rude.
Serra Nicole Keto was born the only child of two commoners, Samuel and Helen Keto, in the Town of Rauru. Her family raised her until the age of 3, when she was sent away to be trained as a warrior. Because of her separation at such an early age, Serra does not remember her family.
She was taken to a nearby town to an academy designed especially for training young children to become great warriors and educated individuals. Serra was only one of the few females in her class and was one of a handful that strove to do the best they could do. During the first 12 years of her stay at the academy, a majority of her studies consisted highly of academics with a smaller emphasis on training as a warrior. Serra, being one of the few girls that attended the academy, became extremely competitive with the opposite sex for the best grades and soon excelled to the top of her class.
At the age of 15, she began her extensive training as a warrior. During the next 11 years, she became skilled as a swordsman and became capable of handling most sword types. However, she grew fond of using twin falchions, called Sol and Luna, and chose them as her main weapons. Serra, though she specializes and prefers to fight with swords or other such bladed weapons, came to be adequately skilled as an archer and a practitioner of martial arts. Her competitive nature seeped into her training, but this time, she only came to be second best in her class. Serra did not let this minor defeat get to her, and instead of letting it bring her down, she saw it as an opportunity to seek out her weaknesses and to better herself.
With that thought in her mind, she left the Town of Rauru at age 26. Serra traveled Hyrule for a year training, not only her body, but also her mind. She had come to love knowledge and would do anything she could to obtain more. One day, while traveling through the Plentif Plains, she came into a town that had just been set afire. Deciding to try and help quell the flames and rescue the citizens, Serra took up her twin falchions and launched an attack on two mounted men who seemed to be threatening a defenseless woman. She later came to find out that Sir Hayden and Morenku, the two souls that she had attacked, were pursuing the Moblin who had set fire to the town and had somehow mistaken the woman as the creature. Staying to help control the flames, Serra also met Kamaitachi and Elzen. As the fire died down, the group parted ways.
Deciding to take a short respite from her travels, Serra traveled home through the Maku Forest, where she stumbled across the charred remains of a library. Among the ashes, Serra found an old tome with strange symbols hieroglyphs that she had never encountered before. Taking a moment to examine the book, she was met by a kind gentleman by the name of Benedicte. The two were soon encountered by another man, who Serra came to know as Raven, who thought he was rescuing Serra from an assailant. The three headed into town and to the local Inn where they stayed for the night. Hoping that the book may be one of magic, and at Benedicte’s advice, Serra traveled to the North Palace in search of information and help to decipher the tome she had found.
Entering the infamous Cheval’s Tavern, she met with a group of important-looking individuals and shared some tea with them. Only one, a man with long black hair, truly paid her any attention. A short while later, the group left the tavern to go to the Spring Festival. Serra followed behind them and eventually met up with Sir Hayden during the festivities. After the celebration was over for the day, Hayden escorted Serra back to the tavern, but on the way, they met Elwise. This was the same man Serra had met back at Cheval’s, and she came to find out that he and Hayden were cousins. Serra was glad to know that Elwise was well-learned in the arcane arts and that he was willing to help her decipher the tome and learn a bit of magic. Another familiar face, Morenku, soon arrived, and after a fair bit of talking, the four retreated to Hayden’s home. Once there, Morenku told them of his grandfather’s sword, located somewhere in the Southern Conclave Mountains, and how he desired to retrieve it. Serra, with her adventurous spirit, volunteered to accompany him with his endeavor. The scholar Elwise also traveled with them, but Sir Hayden had received an order from the Hyrulean Army and would be unable to go with them. The next morning, the three arose and departed for the mountains and the adventure that awaited them. |
